As part of a two-day visit to Perm, the delegation of the Kazan National Research Technical University named after A.N. Tupolev (KNRTU - KAI) came to see UEC-Aviadvigatel JSC.
The purpose of the working meeting was to present the Perm design bureau principal developments to the Kazan scientists, and to discuss the areas of further cooperation within the framework of the PD-14 and PD-35 aviation engines creation projects. Aleksandr Inozemtsev, the Managing Director - General Designer of the Perm design bureau, welcomed the guests.
The KNRTU-KAI delegation headed by Sergey Mikhailov, Vice-Rector for Research and Development Activities, and Victor Gureev, Vice-president for Development, saw the production shops and laboratories of UEC-Aviadvigatel JSC. Robotic production lines, metal-processing machines, latest technologies of part and hardware repair, center for acoustic research, material and aviation engine component strength testing laboratory were demonstrated to the guests. Besides, the KNRTU-KAI delegation visited test stands where the certification tests of the PD-14 engines are taking place at the moment.
During the visit, the KNRTU-KAI representatives and UEC-Aviadvigatel specialists discussed further cooperation in the sphere of laser and additive technologies, composite technologies, lean production, experimental research of material properties, component computer modeling and design.
As Sergey Mikhailov put it, the KNRTU-KAI representatives were ready with specific proposals on cooperation in the sphere of innovations, technological equipment, software provision and personnel training. “The main task is to establish interdisciplinary, multisectoral cooperation for reaching immediate and strategic goals”, - S. Mikhailov emphasized.
In answer to a question about what results the Kazan Aviation Institute expect from this meeting, Victor Gureev replied, - “Aviadvigatel is implementing world-class projects, the PD-14, PD-35 engine projects. The design bureau has the design, technological, testing capabilities most extensive in the country. But the volume and the complexity of the tasks set before Aviadvigatel and the whole industry are so formidable that they need to be completed through cooperative efforts. So higher educational establishments, including out university, should participate in creating fundamental scientific reserve”.
At the end of their visit to UEC-Aviadvigatel JSC, the KNRTU-KAI representatives said that everything they saw gave them confidence that PD-14 would get its type certificate on time.
